Caddie Program
Ravinia Green Country Club is proud to have a caddie program where our vision is to instill the values of commitment, teamwork, and respect. Our caddies are expected to work hard, maintain awareness, and keep a positive and energetic attitude on our Riverwoods, Illinois, golf course. We believe that caddying prepares these young men and women to be successful in whatever avenue of life they choose to take. Every year, caddies from Ravinia Green may be eligible to earn scholarships from the Evans Scholarship Foundation.

Kris McGovern
Player Development Professional
Serving since 2022
About Kris
Kris is originally from Vernon Hills, IL. He will be our new Player Development Professional after spending the last four years teaching at a golf academy in Phoenix, AZ. After playing collegiate golf at Eckerd College and graduating with a B.A. in Business Administration Kris developed a passion for teaching golf. Kris's approach to teaching is to simplify the game by providing individualized instruction to each student. Every golfer has a certain amount of steep and shallow angles in their swing; Kris's ultimate goal is to get each student's swing balanced with the right amount of steep and shallow angles leading to a correct and repetitive impact. Kris was fortunate to learn these principles from his mentor, Jake Sandusky, and continued learning from Top 100 Instructors' Jim Hardy and Chris O'Connell over the last few years. Kris also has a passion for research and learning and is always striving to deliver the best possible information to his students. Kris is excited to showcase his teaching skills and introduce more golf instructional programs here at Ravinia Green going forward.
Phil Ortiz
First Assistant Golf Professional
Serving since 2022
About Phil
I grew up in the Bay Area of California and later, Albuquerque, New Mexico playing primarily soccer and baseball. I began to learn about golf during my freshman year of college and became consumed, as I am sure you may be as well, chasing that white ball down the rough and enjoying the camaraderie of others endeavoring the same pursuit to score better than the day before. I took my first Player’s Ability Test one and a half years later and missed by one stroke. Later, I passed. Golf career-wise, I began working in an off-course retail shop which expanded over time. During the dot-com boom, I ran the daily operations for a website in which we sold golf equipment over the internet. Two and a half years later the company sold and I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. I tried out a couple other industries, but golf remained a passion.
