Extensive Renovation of Gleneagles Country Club King’s Course Enhances Play at Every Level

PLANO – Gleneagles Country Club, a member of the Invited family, announces completion of a major renovation to the King’s Course, directed by Pascuzzo/Pate Golf Design, that impacted virtually every aspect of the course – enhancing play strategy, aesthetic value of the course and condition of playing surfaces. The King’s Course, which plays as long as 7,020 yards and as short as 4,532, now gives players more options and challenges to energize their round.

“Our goal with this extensive renovation was to elevate the golf experience for members,” said Chuck Feddersen, Invited executive vice president, golf and country clubs. “Pacuzzo/Pate has more than accomplished that by improving upon the solid foundation of the original design by legendary course planners Robert Von Hagge and Bruce Devlin while also revitalizing the course to create situations that force players to use their imagination, to strategize and to golf for the spirit of adventure.”

Improvements and changes to the King’s Course include:

  • Complete rebuild of all 18 greens from the ground up with modern specifications, newly planted Mini-Verde, an ultra-dwarf Bermuda grass that performs best in the summer heat and humidity
  • Redesign of all 18 greens now offering a variety of hole locations that range from easy to challenging
  • Complete bunker reconstruction with Better Billy Bunker Method plus the removal, addition or redesign of several bunkers. Careful club selection will be required by players up against new bunkers defending certain areas of the green or complicating the fairways
  • New tee boxes – Rectangular with straight lines and corners reminiscent of golf’s earliest days, the five sets of tees are larger (creating infinite set-ups), leveled and grassed with new Latitude 36™ Bermudagrass
  • New 10,000-square-foot putting course with wild undulations – fun, challenging and a great complement activity for tournament outings and club events

“The members are very excited to play the ‘new’ King’s Course, which has an entirely new look and feel,” said Michael McCarter, chairman of the club’s Board of Governors. “They are reinvigorated about their game and are ready to take on the new challenges.”

Amenities at Gleneagles Country Club, a private club located in the community of West Plano, include a beautifully appointed clubhouse, 36 holes of championship golf – the King’s Course and the Queen’s Course – originally designed by the team of Von Hagge and Devlin, a driving range and a short game practice area, and new putting course. The club also features 18 lighted outdoor hard tennis courts and four swimming pools.

Gleneagles Country Club members also can enjoy Invited's unique O.N.E. (Optimal Network Experiences) program, which provides value-oriented benefits like 50% off a la carte dining at the member's Home Club. In addition, members can enjoy benefits within the Dallas-Fort Worth Community – including 14 DFW-area clubs in the Invited family – and Worldwide including complimentary green fees and complimentary dining when traveling throughout the Invited Network, which now offers access to more than 300 private clubs and special offerings at more than 1,000 hotels, resorts and entertainment venues.

The Pascuzzo/Pate design duo includes Damian Pascuzzo, who began his career working with famed designer Robert Muir Graves and, in 1991, became the principal designer and partnered with Graves to form Graves & Pascuzzo, and Steve Pate, longtime veteran of the PGA TOUR with a vast knowledge of golf and playing strategy from 30 years competing, six PGA Tour event wins and membership on two Ryder Cup teams. Past projects include renovations and redesigns of both the Legends and Champions courses at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, and Nemu Resort in Shima, Japan.
