Invited’s Magazine Nabs Another Major Award

DALLAS - Private Clubs magazine, the quarterly publication from Invited – The World Leader in Private Clubs® (NYSE: MYCC) – has won top honors in the 2014 Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition, nabbing the gold medal in the category featuring magazines that don’t cover travel exclusively. The lifestyle magazine beat out stiff competition with Departures, Time Inc.’s luxury magazine for American Express’ top cardholders, winning silver; and Outside, the bronze.

The Society of American Travel Writers Foundation sponsors the annual awards, considered the most prestigious in the field of travel journalism. The competition, open to all North American journalists and magazines, drew 1,177 entries this year, which the faculty at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Journalism and Mass Communication judged.

In honoring Private Clubs, the judges said: “This magazine in general is quite impressive from its core; the paper quality, the size and the overall editorial content rise above other entries as being well thought out and exclusive. From cover to cover, the writing, photos, use of typography and overall editing seem to strongly benefit the reader in practical ways. … The overall editorial philosophy and presentation appear to be strongly focused to really meet the needs of the target audience with class and substance.”
