Invited's Firestone Country Club Again Serves as Site of World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational

AKRON - Firestone Country Club, a proud member of the Invited family of clubs, welcomes the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational to the club Aug. 1-4, 2013. Firestone, located in Akron, Ohio, has served as the site of the annual World Series of Golf event (known as the Bridgestone Invitational since 2006) for 36 of the event’s 37-year history.

This year, 73 players from 18 countries, including defending champion Keegan Bradley, seven-time winner Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Brandt Snedeker, Adam Scott, and Rory McIlroy, are slated to take to the par-70, 7,400-yard South Course – also known as “The Monster” – to compete for the $8.75 million purse.

The World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, in conjunction with Northern Ohio Golf Charities, annually donates approximately $1 million to charities throughout Northeast Ohio. Through professional golf at Firestone Country Club, more than $21 million has been given to organizations seeking to improve the quality of life in the region.
