City Club on Bunker Hill Plans Relocation and Reinvention
LOS ANGELES - The City Club on Bunker Hill, the premier private business club in downtown Los Angeles, plans to relocate and reinvent itself at a grand scale. The projected $8.5-million project will land the prestigious 25-year-old club in the heart of L.A.; the expanded 27,000-square-foot space will sit on the top floor of the City National Tower at the intersection of Flower and Sixth streets. The club’s new style, amenities, technology and innovative design will accentuate spectacular views of Hollywood, West Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean.
“This is a new chapter for the club, which is evolving based on the changing wants and needs of current and future members,” said Larry Ahlquist, City Club general manager. “Not only are we providing more value, but we are creating a vital and relevant club that will serve as the hub of the Los Angeles business community for many years to come.”
The new club – a member of the Invited family – features new rooms and amenities, inspired and fresh dining options, new programming and amenities such as:
- A grand reception and lobby lounge with dramatic views from the moment of arrival
- A stylish “Anytime Lounge” where members drop in for a quick latte, catch up on the news, work on laptops and iPads, meet colleagues, dine or just relax and hang out
- A new and exciting bar and grill for more relaxed business and social gatherings from early morning to late nights
- Technology-equipped “Touchdown Rooms” for private calls, interviews or meetings with clients
- Power Boardrooms with state-of-the-art technology including HD video conferencing and other business amenities
- An upscale formal dining room with breathtaking views
In addition, the new club space is being designed to offer an expanded private event space that will accommodate more than 300 guests seated and more than 500 standing, perfect for celebrating sophisticated and elegant weddings, business presentations, conferences, civic gatherings and other large events.
“Relocating will bring a fresh energy and new dynamic to the club,” says Meg Lodise, chair of the club’s Board of Governors. “Los Angeles is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the nation and City Club’s membership reflects that diversity. The new location will allow us to similarly increase the diversity of amenities for our members. The new City Club will no doubt solidify its place as the centerpiece of Los Angeles’ business, civic and social culture. This is a very exciting time for our club and community.”
The new City Club is expected to open in 2013.
