Braemar Country Club Reinvents the Tennis Experience
TARZANA - Braemar Country Club, a member of the Invited family of clubs, announces the completion of a multimillion-dollar improvement project to its tennis facility that will enhance the way members play the game and how they socialize before and after. More than 350 members attended a grand opening in early August that included cocktails, food stations and live jazz music.
“Our goal is to create a more vibrant tennis program that attracts players of every skill level,” said Ryan Wingo, general manager. “This project is going to give members the resources they need to improve their game but, just as importantly, allow us to create a more robust calendar of fun, social events that center around the tennis programming. We want the members to come for the tennis but stay for the fun, friendships and sense of community.”
Players now can hone their game on two fully rebuilt courts plus resurfaced tennis courts with new amenities while taking advantage of the new PlaySight SmartCourt technology, a camera system with state-of-the-art technology that offers line calling, live-streaming, instant multi-angle video replays. Braemar also is streamlining the reservation process with Kourts, an online court reservation system, and Tennis Locker, a “one app, one tap” junior development tracker.
In addition, the club added a new court viewing area, new Tennis Pro Shop with modern retail displays, new restrooms with day-use lockers and showers plus additional facility upgrades.
The ‘new’ Braemar tennis facility also now includes “Deuce,” a new dining deck and lounge area – complete with an Airstream converted into a bar, outdoor kitchen, and communal seating – perfect for post-tournament festivities and where members can recap their game or socialize over a handcrafted cocktail, craft beer or bite to eat.
A newly built covered outdoor patio, “Vijay’s Veranda” with big screen TVs, tables and lounge seating also provide a great space for leisurely post-match gatherings. The veranda is dedicated to long-time Braemar honorary tennis member, Vijay Amritraj, for his accomplishments in the sport of tennis and his dedication to humanitarian causes.
“The members are very excited about all of the changes to the tennis facility,” said Dwight Kuhlman, longtime tennis member and former Board of Governors President. “The club already had an exceptional tennis program but these changes have made it truly spectacular.”
To complement the renovation, the club has launched a mural competition, calling on local artists to submit design ideas for the 50-by-50-foot cinderblock wall just above the tennis courts. The club will determine the final three artists and a winner will then be voted on by members. The mural will add unique artistry and local flair to the club’s newest amenities, while giving a local artist invaluable exposure to showcase their artwork.
A part of the Southern California landscape for 59 years, Braemar Country Club is a private lifestyle club offering golf, tennis, dining, aquatics, fitness, and extraordinary events and activities catered toward all members of the family. In recent years, the club underwent a major clubhouse transformation bringing a California contemporary look with new social, dining and fitness amenities, as well as a 10-acre golf practice facility.
Members at Braemar Country Club also can enjoy Invited's unique O.N.E.
